Mykonos: Morning Glory

Quiet before the storm. The clubs and bars are quiet. Early morning on the streets of Mykonos makes you forget it is known as the party island of Greece.  Take a walk along Little Venice and listen to the waves pound against the sea wall, sending sprays of water onto the empty tables of last night’s bars.  A peaceful calmness has settled over the town. The  narrow, cobblestoned labyrinth of streets are yours to get lost in and explore.  The streets were designed this way to confuse the pirates of the Mediterranean many years ago.  Finish your walk at the open air theatre where you may run into the local hero of Mykonos – Petros the Pelican.

Take a walk virtual walk through the cobbled streets of Chora Town on Mykonos Island below.

Greek Life

The Greek lifestyle is unique and is what many other countries don’t understand. It may appear as if they are a partying, lazy crowd. But in fact they work very hard to achieve their relaxing, carefree lifestyle. Perhaps the rest of the world should take on some ideas from Greece. Continue reading “Greek Life”

Summer in Mykonos

This week is a trip down memory lane to last summer in Mykonos.  Not only was the weather perfect, but I visited some of the best beaches with the clearest blue waters.  While we have some great beaches in Australia, it is a different world in Greece that should be on everyone’s travel list. Imagine yourself reclining on a beach lounge, sipping your favourite icy cold drink and taking in the electric atmosphere around you. Continue reading “Summer in Mykonos”

Photo of the Month: Stairs to Success

I loved the message on this staircase as soon as I saw it.  A perfect photo opportunity as I turned the corner on a narrow, winding cobble stoned street of Chora, Mykonos .  It is a subtle, yet inspiring message that rings true. Success comes in many forms and holds different meaning to each individual, whether it be personal, career or family.  There is no easy path to achieve your goals.  A lot of hard work, perseverance and a belief in your own abilities are critical to achieving your goals.

Photo of the Month: Waves of Mykonos

Mykonos, also known as the island of wind, and last summer was no exception.  It was my first trip to Greece and I was imagining perfect weather, golden beaches and warm waters. Well two out of the three were not bad.  Mother Nature had decided that she would send strong winds as well.  However, it does make for a great photo this month as the waves crash up against the sea wall of Little Venice providing a new perspective to the famous windmills of Mykonos. Watch you step!

Beach Vibes

The beach life in Greece is different – very different to how we experience it back home.  Here it is a different culture.  It feels great to relax on the beach where you are served your drinks and meals direct to your sun bed.  There is also music played across the beach in similar style to that of the clubs visited the night before.  The Beach Clubs on the beaches of Mykonos feel sophisticated and fun.
