New Year’s Eve on a shoestring

It’s no surprise that going out to celebrate New Year’s Eve can be expensive. Clothes, food, event tickets, alcoholic beverages and of course the champagne for toasting at midnight. But a night out on the town is achievable. Even on a budget. Here are my top tips to enjoy New Year’s Eve without breaking the bank.

  • Set a budget. How much can you really afford, or want to spend, on the party. You don’t need to fork out hundreds of dollars for one night of celebrations.
  • Share the load. You don’t have to do it all yourself. Have your guests bring a plate of food or a bottle of wine to share.
  • Free city fireworks. An increase in the number of local councils hosting free events means there are more opportunities for everyone to enjoy a party. These events are family friendly, alcohol free zones.
  • Free public transport to get you safely to and from your celebrations. In Australia, both Melbourne and Adelaide provide free travel on their public transport network to ensure you get to and from your New Year’s Eve celebration safely.

What plans do you have for New Year’s Eve. Please share in the comments section below.

I would like to take this moment to thank you all for your support during the year.

Have a safe and happy new year!
