The first thing I noticed about Las Vegas was that everything is exaggerated. There is a little piece of many countries dotted across the city. Including the Eiffel Tower. Stereotyped as the gambling capital of the world, Las Vegas also provides visitors a mini break to or from their final destination.
My trip to Las Vegas was a stopover on the way home from Canada. In the spirit of Las Vegas I chose to stay in the Hotel Excalibur. From the street it could almost pass for a fairy tale castle. Inside the theme of medieval England continued complete with a banquet hall restaurant.

However, you will find it hard to locate a clock in many of the hotel casinos. This would appear to be part of the evil plan for guests to stay as long as possible – or until their money runs out, whichever is sooner!

The stand out features of the city for me were The Venetian Hotel because once inside the Grand Canal does give you a taste of Italy. A visit to Las Vegas is not complete without viewing The Sirens show at Treasure Island. A fun way to end the evening.

The convenience of Las Vegas makes it a perfect base for exploring the Grand Canyon. This was the highlight fr me. The glitz, glamour and bright lights of “sin city” can become overwhelming in huge doses. So a day escape to the great outdoors is a welcome change of pace. Look out for a special video feature in the coming weeks.

I would probably visit again, but only if I were to travel through on my way to another American city. For me it was okay to break up my journey, but I found the sparkle and glamour of the town a little over the top at times. But I am glad that I had the opportunity to visit and experience what I had heard everyone talk about.

That is what Las Vegas is all about. The lights are beautiful and it is full of many quirky attractions. Like M&M World – a fun tacky souvenir store where every souvenir imaginable has been connected to M&Ms. Or visit the MGM Grand Hotel and get up close and personal with the movie crowd.
If I had to describe Las Vegas, I would have to call it a fun park. A place to go to forget about your hectic life for a short while.

I’ve never been to Las Vegas because I just never had the desire to go. I’m not a gambler — almost never buy lottery tickets and get annoyed when hubby wastes our money on them bi-weekly — but once in a while I might put aside a few bucks to play the slots until I run out. And, having been to Atlantic City a few times, I got my fill of roulette and other “games of chance”. To me, Vegas is just AC on a larger scale and larger crowds I can do without. 🙂

It;s definitely not a destination you would plan specifically to go to. It is known for it’s casinos, and I’m not a gambler either, but the entertainment and the close proximity to the Grand Canyon were Las Vegas’ best features.
